Bensonwood embraced our challenge. Most importantly, they stood out among American builders as the most comprehensive and advanced users of parametric modeling and computer aided manufacturing. Working together, we built a single parametric model of Loblolly House before it went into shop fabrication.

Past & Present Collaborations
Kieran Timberlake Architects collaborated with Bensonwood in 2006 to create Loblolly House, an award-winning, aluminum-framed beach house on the Chesapeake Bay. You can read more about Loblolly House on kierantimberlake.com.
Kaplan Thompson Architects of Maine collaborated with us to create Bright Built Barn, a prototype LEED Platinum, Net Zero home built in Rockport, Maine. Bright Built Barn won the 2009 LEED for Homes “Innovative Project Award.”
The Open Prototype Initiative was a collaboration between MIT’s House_n Research Group and Bensonwood, to develop several “House of the Future” Prototypes. This collaboration led to the construction of Open_1 at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center and to the Unity College President’s House in Maine. The refinements learned in these prototype homes led to the development of Bensonwood’s OBPlus Wall® and, ultimately, to the creation of Unity Homes.
