Open-Built® — Construction

Shop workCan you imagine what would happen if a car company built your car in your own driveway? Parts would get dirty or damaged when they were dropped from the back of the truck. Things might get stolen and quality would depend on who showed up on the site that day. And if it rained? The interior would get soaked while it awaited installation.

Open-Built® allows Bensonwood to construct timberframes, panels, and other assemblies in the warm, highly controlled environment of a state-of-the art machining, craft, and assembly facility. The resulting assembled elements are of the highest quality possible.

wrapped bundles on truckIf a typical home has 50,000 components, Bensonwood's ultimate goal is to put them together into just 50 subassemblies, each one machined, crafted, and assembled by highly trained professionals. The subassemblies are then shrink-wrapped, palletized, and loaded on trucks for assembly at the building location. On site, Bensonwood's legendary Beam Team quickly and efficiently joins timbers and subassemblies. The process works so well that even expansive Bensonwood homes are assembled and sealed against the weather in weeks instead of months.
