Open-Built® — Electrical
Open-Built® construction dispenses with wires and outlets that can't be relocated without damage. Instead, wires run through chases in the baseboards and outlets can be relocated easily along the chase.
The principles of Open Building predict that a home will be modified many times over the years. Following this logic, our wall panels have a chase running horizontally at the bottom for routing power and data wires. This chase remains accessible via our removable baseboard system. It is also quite helpful during the final phases of construction. Lighting fixtures can be easily added or moved. Relocating outlets in the Open-Built® baseboard is also simple and easy.
The components of this system are premilled and prefinished to facilitate their efficient installation on site. Prewired outlets fit into the wood "trim rings" as the baseboard is installed. When the time comes to upgrade or alter the wiring--whether it be for additional outlets, for another computer jack, or to serve some soon-to-be-developed technology--the components of the baseboard system can be disassembled and reassembled with relative ease, making the base chase accessible.
