Timber Frame Associate

Bensonwood, a design-build company, seeks an experienced timber framer to join its growing team.  

Bensonwood is a national leader and innovator in the design and building of timber frame, hybrid, and panelized homes as well as light commercial projects.  The company has a forty year history of building unique residential and commercial projects throughout the US.  The company’s dynamic, team-oriented culture values high performance and continuous improvement.


Position Summary

This role will be part of the Timberframe Team currently located at our facility in Walpole, NH.  Working with a team of twelve (12) timber framers, this role will be responsible for assisting with the production and preparation of the timbers that are used to create a ‘Bensonwood Home’.  This role will report to the Timberframe Team Leader.


We are willing to train the right candidate for this full-time role but the ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a skilled timber framer
  • At least two years woodworking shop experience. Machinist shop skills applicable
  • Computer literacy and familiarity in AutoCAD or similar programs helpful
  • Desire to learn & apply innovative green building techniques

Essential role functions

  • Standing for long periods of time, walking and running
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work safely and accurately with both heavy objects and sharp tools
  • Ability to visualize in 3 dimensions
  • Ability to:
    • Lift at least 50 lbs
    • Work safely and effectively at high elevations
    • Safely operate hazardous equipment
    • Travel, sometimes for weeks at a time, as this role includes site time
    • Work in varying weather conditions and temperatures
    • Work overtime if required
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
