Project Description

During the winter of 2000-2001, associates from Bensonwood and the Thoreau Institute  researched the design and construction of Henry David Thoreau’s Walden home. In the spring of 2001, Bensonwood volunteers re-created this historic cabin on the grounds of the Thoreau Institute near Walden Pond. Inspired by the Thoreau cabin, we have created a version of the timberframe that can be raised, by a few able-bodied friends, in a day.
