High Estate

Southwest, Colorado

1992

Three independent frames with conventionally framed connections and bay extensions make up the buildings primary structure. Salvaged douglas fir timbers were used in the central frame while the outer wings are made with new wood. The timbers for the porch have a unique distressed look from mild sandblasting. While the round columns which once were pillars in the Boston College ice arena are southern longleaf pine, porch plates, rafters, and column capitals come from salvaged douglas fir.
