Bensonwood is excited to share that our Hanover Modern project has been honored with the 2025 NH Home Design Award in the category of Green Design: Energy Efficient Home. This recognition is a celebration of our team’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable residential design, and a reflection of the shared values between our clients, our design philosophy, and our building approach.
Hanover Modern is a 3,700 square-foot Bensonwood custom home nestled in New Hampshire and designed for a family of six. Its inspiration draws from clean, Scandinavian aesthetics, which are paired with deeply practical, energy-conscious systems. The home blends thoughtful spatial planning with powerful building performance: including solar panels, battery backup, and a full air-to-air heat pump system that allow the house to operate entirely without fossil fuels. From the beginning, our goal was to create a space that didn’t just function efficiently, but also felt warm, livable, and enduring.
The interior layout was crafted with family flexibility in mind. An open-concept kitchen, living, and dining space forms the heart of the home, fostering connection while maintaining a strong indoor-outdoor relationship. A flexible suite on the first floor—originally used for homeschooling—now serves as a guest room, and can adapt to future needs, including aging in place. This versatility, paired with our signature offsite fabrication process, allowed us to deliver a home that meets today’s environmental challenges while supporting a modern lifestyle.

The NH Home Design Awards ceremony, held April 17, 2025 at The Venues at the Factory in Manchester, brought together leading architects, builders, and designers. It was a night to celebrate outstanding achievements in design, and we are thrilled that Hanover Modern was honored among other strong and sustainably conscious designs.
