The Bensonwood Design Group is built on the legacy of 50 years’ experience designing and building efficient timber frame homes. The team is comprised of experienced Architects and designers and they benefit from having in-house resources including Master Timber Framers, accomplished Woodworkers and a team of Structural Engineers. Our innovative design team fosters a collaborative approach with clients, builders and consultants alike.

Meet The OpenHome Team

Tedd Benson

Founder, CEO

Tedd Benson, founder of Bensonwood and Unity Homes, is a building pioneer who has spent his career redefining how homes are designed and constructed. A key figure in the revival of timber framing in America, Tedd co-founded the Timber Framers Guild of North America and authored four influential books on the subject. Under his leadership, Bensonwood has become a leader in timber frame design and craftsmanship, as well as a pioneer in Mass Timber and CLT construction. Tedd launched Unity Homes to focus on creating high-performance, sustainable homes, and established a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Keene, NH. With OpenHome, Tedd aims to make exceptional architecture and world-class design accessible to more people by streamlining the building process and using sustainable, high-quality materials that ensure beauty, durability, and energy efficiency. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a home that enhances well-being and connects them to their surroundings.
