Thoreau Cabin

Alstead, New Hampshire

2008

A small 10 by 15 foot prefab timberframe cabin in Alstead, New Hampshire inspired by Henry David Thoreau's Walden cabin. The owner's collected fieldstones from the property for the rustic exterior. A brick wood fireplace adds warmth to the uninsulated cabin in the fall and spring. Reclaimed windows from an old factory add a historic feel to the dwelling. The prefab cabin is part of a line of modular timber frame kits by Bensonwood. They can become a writers cabin, yoga space or garden shed.
